Perfectly Fried Bacon
Bacon is really quite easy to fry, but follow these steps for perfect bacon every time.
Lay the bacon strips flat in a cold fry pan or skillet.
Place the pan over medium-low heat.
When the bacon begins to curl, carefully loosen and turn each strip to cook the other side. Turn as often as needed for even browning. Thinner bacon will become crisper than thick bacon.
If necessary, remove some of the fat to a glass or metal container as you cook.
This will help to reduce spatters and will produce crisper bacon.
A splatter shield is an excellent piece of cooking equipment, and very helpful in preventing the messy (and sometimes dangerous!) splattering.
Remove the strips of bacon to paper towels or brown paper bags to drain.
