Hope is outside the pub and receives a call from Bo, who gives her information on the hit man who shot Philip. She is eager to take a crack at Stefano herself.

DiMera Mansion

Nicole takes a call from E.J., who informs her that Stefano has gone away for a few days. He warns her that nobody can know about it. She asks when he’s coming home. He claims he has a couple of errands to run and will be back in a little while.

Afterwards, Nicole picks up Sydney and flashes back to urging Mia never to see the baby again.

Hope arrives at the mansion and asks if Stefano’s there. Nicole says he’s not and tries to blow her off. Hope wonders if Nicole knows where he is. Nicole quips how it’s Wednesday night, so he must be bowling. Hope is curious as to why they went ahead with the wedding so soon after Tony’s death. Nicole claims the wedding was perfect. Hope states that usually when a family member dies, people put off weddings until the family has had enough time to grieve. Nicole counters that they went ahead with the wedding so she and E.J. could break up some of the sadness. She asserts how ecstatic she is to be Mrs. E.J. DiMera and how devoted she and E.J. are to Sydney and to one other. “And not only are we soulmates, but we are husband and wife forever, til death do us part!” she yells. “You poor, poor thing,” derides Hope. Nicole chastises Hope for insulting her.

Nicole heads into the living room after hearing Sydney cry and picks her up.

Hope remarks how beautiful Sydney is. Nicole puts her back down and asks Hope if they can get on with it, since she needs to fix Sydney a bottle. Hope asks if Nicole noticed anything out of the ordinary with Stefano yesterday at her wedding, rehashing how Philip nearly died last night. Nicole claims she doesn’t know anything. Hope surmises that Nicole is lying about her husband and father-in-law. Nicole tells her to get out, predicting that if E.J. was there he would throw Hope out. Hope refers to E.J. as a smart man who knows better than to tick off the police, especially in these circumstances. “What could be so important that he had to tear himself away from his new bride and beautiful daughter? Where is he Nicole?” Hope questions. Nicole gets defensive and says she doesn’t keep track of E.J.’s whereabouts, claiming she trusts him. Hope deduces that Nicole knows more about the hit man than she’s leading on. The ladies continue to argue before Hope warns Nicole that the DiMeras will chew her up and spit her out, along with her daughter, if she stays in this marriage. Nicole orders Hope to get out unless she has plans to slap some handcuffs on her. Hope wishes her luck and leaves.

Nicole heads back into the living room and picks up Sydney and apologizes for the commotion, assuring her that everything’s going to be fine.

Sami’s Place

Rafe and Sami are getting amorous and decide to move things to the sofa. They continue kissing passionately. Rafe picks her up and is about to carry her into the bedroom, but their passion is interrupted by a knock at the door. Sami tries to pull herself together before she opens the door. She is flustered to see E.J. and asks him what he’s doing there. E.J. has preschool applications for Johnny and was hoping they could look them over. Sami chews him out for not calling first. E.J. says he did call several times and asks permission to see the kids. She says they aren’t there and tries to slam the door in his face, but E.J. comes right in anyway.

E.J. admits his surprise to see Rafe in town. He might have a business proposal for Rafe, bringing up how his family has been getting some bad press recently and the situation has become menacing. Thus, they’re looking to improve their security. Sami asks him to go away. E.J. tells Rafe if that he’s looking for work, his wife needs a bodyguard. “No way!” exclaims Sami. E.J. asks Sami to let Rafe speak for himself, remarking how qualified he is and implying how Rafe is very familiar with his house. He smirks how Rafe can always get a job as a cable guy if the bodyguard thing doesn’t work out. Rafe receives a call from New York and excuses himself.

Meanwhile, Sami chews E.J. out for butting in when she and Rafe are obviously busy. E.J. proceeds to go. “Good! The next time you are so desperate to speak to me, why don’t you pick a better excuse? Why don’t you pick a better excuse than stupid brochures that I could’ve downloaded off the Internet myself!” she rants. E.J. quips how he must be desperate like every other man on the planet to spend time with her because she’s so charming. “Give my best to your witch. I mean, wife,” she demeans. E.J. rehashes how she interrupted his wedding and berates her for nearly ruining the most important day of his life. He questions why she decided to ruin his wedding, then assumes that it has something to do with their child. Sami claims she gave him an explanation, which makes E.J. laugh.

Rafe overhears from the other room as E.J. brings up how Sami seems to be having a hard time weaning herself away from him. He surmises that the real reason she tried to stop the wedding is because she wants to be a part of his life. Sami asserts that she’s not in love with him, and whatever was between them is gone and finished forever. E.J. refers to her and Rafe as a rebound thing. Sami chews E.J. out for talking about Rafe like that. Rafe emerges and says he didn’t mean to interrupt. Sami implies that E.J. was just leaving.

After E.J. walks out, Rafe asks to use the landline. Sami buttons up her shirt and wonders if he told New York that he’s not taking the job. Rafe says they figured that out when he didn’t show up. She wonders if he’s having second thoughts. “Why would I be?” he wonders. She suggests that they continue what they were doing before, but he displays reluctancy. She soon realizes that he obviously overheard her and E.J. She rants what an egotistical maniac E.J. is and how he thinks everyone is into him, insisting that it doesn’t matter what he thinks.
