Book Review - The Next Millionaires by Paul Zane Pilzer

Most people are familiar with the book "Other People's Money" which rocked the business world a number of years ago.
The author, Paul Zane Pilzer, has been on a roll ever since.
A graduate of the Wharton Business school in record time, he has served as adjunct professor at NYU for more than 20 years.
He also served as Citibank's youngest vice president and started a number of entrepreneurial enterprises.
earning his multi-million fortune before he turned 30.
As well, Mr.
Pilzer served as advisor on presidential administrations.
His credentials are such that when he talks, intelligent folks listen.
This book should be on the shelf of every aspiring entrepreneur and anyone contemplating starting their own e-business.
The dedication of this book speaks to all aspiring internet entrepreneurs directly: "To those on their way to making our world a better place, and creating extraordinary wealth and joy for themselves in the process.
" The Next Millionaires begins with a brief survey of the international economy from the '90s to the present.
He acknowledges the economic boom that that decade started with and notes, with frank alarm, that many business mindsets do not seem to have recovered from the effects of 9/11.
Mr.
Pilzer believes and supports his beliefs with solid documentation, that the present international economy offers the same climate for opportunity that existed after the malaise of the 90's when the number of millionaires in the United States doubled from 31/2 million to 7 million.
It is Mr.
Pilzer's thesis that the same conditions exists presently--there for the taking to those who would recognize and grasp the call to action.
Myth Busting: Mr.
Pilzer starts by exposing two popular myths from the outset:
(1) First, he completely disputes any idea that the internet boom is over.
He states unequivocally that: The internet represents one of the greatest economic revelations in history--and it's just getting started.
" It is his belief that the evolution of the internet is still in its infancy, and it is impossible to fathom what the future will hold in the internet arena.
(2) Second, The second myth, among others, that Mr.
Pilzer blows out of the water is that it is too risky to go into business for yourself or to become your own boss.
While he acknowledges that that may have been accurate, 20-30 years ago, those days are over.
He points out that U.
S tax law changes now apply employee benefits to the independent entrepreneur.
Given the uncertainty of being able to retire with the proverbial gold watch after long term employment with a corporation, Mr.
Pilzer recognizes the strong and present logic of going into business for yourself.
In fact, he calls today, "the age of the entrepreneur, " noting that home-based businesses are among the strongest growth quadrants in our present economy.
Part of his approach is predicated on his statement of 'Pilzer's Laws.
' I will presently focus on his Fourth Law which states as follows: "Technology determines need.
" Rather than the traditional approach which we all heard sometime in our youth, eg, 'find a need and fill it,", the contra is true today according to Pilzer.
Presently, the alchemy of economics maintains that technology doesn't only satisfy a need, technology actually defines what needs are.
Simply put, the idea is that the demand for new products today doesn't occur until technology creates the products, markets them and they then become desirable to us--think iPhone and more recently, the iPad.
Forging ahead, because I wouldn't want to spoil the reading journey for you, The Next Millionaires concludes, in a nutshell, that: (1) Technology is basically exploding; (2) Technology s continually introducing new products that improve people's live and ultimately become viewed as "necessities;" and (3) If you are the messenger about the technology (be it products or services), you stand to profit.
Isn't this the basic reason why you started your on-line home business? Doesn't just hearing about it make your entrepreneurial blood sizzle? If you are considering, or presently involved in, entrepreneurial business pursuits on the internet, you owe it to yourself to check out "The Next Millionaires" from cover to cover.
These tip are the golden nuggets or music to the ears for anyone thinking about starting their own e-business.
