- 1). Turn off the Zune player. Flip the "Hold" switch to lock your Zune.
- 2). Take the mini flat-head screwdriver and begin prying the sides of the bottom cover. Place the panel aside. You will see the screws on each side of the port.
- 3). Remove the screws with the mini screwdriver.
- 4). Pry the back of the Zune case with the mini flat-head screwdriver. Be careful when removing the case or you may damage the Zune.
- 5). Place the Zune screen on a soft flat surface. Slowly and gently remove the back panel of the case from the front.
- 1). Take note of the exact placement of the original battery and connector on the mainboard.
- 2). Use a pen (or similar) to open the clamp that is holding the ribbon cable down. Be careful opening the clamp; it is very delicate.
- 3). Remove the battery cable and battery. Attach the battery cable to the battery. Place the battery in the battery compartment.
- 4). Reattach the back panel. Be sure the wires and ribbons are not curled or twisted, but laid straight. Replace all the screws. Replace the bottom panel. Snap the back and bottom panels into place. Be careful not to use too much force.
- 5). Make sure the "Hold" switch is aligned properly. This is a indicator that you reassembled the Zune correctly. Charge the Zune with the new battery prior to using it.
