Lures and Bait When trying to pick the right type of bait, I find that minnows and smaller fish work very well for pike.
Rapalas are good if you are fishing for those big ones as well.
Generally live bait is what you want to use.
You could also use jigs and worms for the smaller pike as I have had lots of success with these as well.
Pike are not picky eaters so a variety of lures are going to work for you.
You just need to experiment and see what one is going to work best.
As I mentioned before, the spring is generally the best time to fish for pike.
This is when they are first starting to come out from the winter and start to feed.
I have noticed that the fish bite better in the spring than any other season.
