As Spanish cheeses have gained popularity so have the garnishes that go with them. Serve these garnishes together or just choose one to accompany a plate of Spanish cheeses.
•Quince Paste
Also known as membrillo, quince paste is a fruit spread made from quince, a fruit with a flavor that is somewhere between a Golden Delicious apple and a pear. Quince paste is often made with sugar and a little lemon. Its sweet flavor pairs well with the saltiness of cheese.
•Marcona Almonds
Marcona Almonds are native to Spain and have become a very popular item in cheese stores. The almonds are roasted in oil and salted and sold with or without skin.
•Fig Cake
Fig Cake is sweet and slightly chewy and best accompanies cheese when sliced thinly. Most fig cakes have nuts and often a hint baking spice.
•Tortas de Aceite
Thin and slightly crispy tortas are flavored with olive oil, sugar and hint of anise. Tortas are delicious with coffee and with soft, mild cheese.
