How to Make Chapati

In North India everyone wants to eat Chapati compare to other dishes like Rice. In some part of they call this recipe as Roti, reason to take Roti in north Indian side is they grow grain means the atmosphere is more suitable for grain farming. It's originated and is consumed in Pakistan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. It is made from stone ground wholemeal flour, traditionally known as wheat flour. Many different variations of flat breads are found in many cultures across the globe, from South Asia to the Americas. The traditional flat bread originating from the South Asia is commonly known as roti. It is made most often from wheat flour, cooked on a flat or slightly concave iron griddle called a tawa. Chapatis are one of the most common forms in which wheat, the staple of northern South Asia, is consumed. Chapati is a form of roti or rotta (bread). The words are often used interchangeably. While roti or rotta refers to any flat unleavened bread, chapati is a roti made of whole wheat flour and cooked on a tava (flat skillet). So guys here I'm going to explain you how to prepare Tawa Roti in home within 25-30 minutes. So before going to prepare know about Nutrient Contents in Roti.

Ingredients for Roti

  • 3 cups whole Wheat flour

  • 1 Cup Water or more if needed

  • Salt (optional)

  • Oil or Ghee (optional)

  • Board and rolling pin

  • Tawa (skillet)

How to Make Roti

Step 1
Take 3 cup of Flour add a pinch of salt and a tsp of Oil (optional). Then mix 1 cup of Water gradually little by little and knead it into dough. You may need a little more or less Water depending on the Flour you are using.
Step 2
Knead it into soft dough so the dough should not be sticky.
Step 3
Make some equal sized balls around 3 inch. Have some wheat flour for dusting.
Step 4
Roll out into round shapes using little Wheat Flour for dusting. With practice you can easily do this.
Step 5
Heat the tawa/fry span and place the rolled out dough on it. Let it cook for a few minutes. You will see small bubbles forming (for Induction Stove 800 watt & use nonstick fry span).
Step 6
Flip it over to the other side and cook, turning and pressing it with a small Towel/Napkin. It will puff (we also call it as Tawa Roti).
Final Step:
Remove from the tawa, apply a little Ghee (optional) and serve with any Side Dish on mine site.
