Secrets to Kitchen Organizing

Is your kitchen the central place to go in your home? Do you naturally gravitate toward the kitchen to talk with friends, play cards or do homework with the kids? It would be so nice if the atmosphere in your kitchen was calm and relaxing. Friends will feel like they have been invited into an oaisis. The secret to this is kitchen organizing. Let's get going with a few tips to organize your kitchen.

Stand in the middle of your kitchen look around. Take in the pictures on the walls, your blender, your mixer, anything that is sitting outside of the cabinets. What kitchen items do you regularly use? What is only pulled out once a year? What's broken or you've outgrown the item? To store your kitchen supplies while we reorganize we will create three recepticals 1. donate, 2. sell, 3 trash. I usually use a bag for the trash since it's easier to dispose.

You'll want to cull through the kitchen items and see what you have doubles of. Get rid of the ones you don't want. Now is a good time to remove those broken items.

After you've gone through your utensils, really consider how often you use them. Daily tools should be kept close to where they are used, making them convienent. Spoon and spatula's for example could be kept near the stove in a stoneware or metal container. Your first concern is how accessible will they be.

You want to divide your room into sections or zones. Example's of this are the meal-planning area, food preparation area or serving area. (You can create your own zones with whatver label you want as well.) Then you will want to keep the items you use close in that zone. You will have a bit of cross over. Don't worry about that. Start considering the kitchen flow when you restore your kitchen tools. Maybe keeping the glasses and plates near the dishwasher for easier unloading, putting the pots on a rack instead of having them in a drawer across the room. This all depends on what you want.

You will need those containers now. Start removing utensils from drawers and pots from cabinets. Group like items together. It goes with out saying get rid of anything broken. Have your box ready for the donate items and when you are finished put that in your car immediately. Now it's out of your way.

You will want to do a quick clean up in your cabinets. If you have a small vacuum with a brush nozzle that will do a descent job. If you have spills in your cabinets you will need some warm soapy water and a dishcloth to quickly clean up. This shouldn't take more then 15- 20 minutes.

Returning your kitchen items to their proper place will need you to think about the zones again. Also, which items are seldom used. Seldom used items belong on top shelves. Start with those items first then work your way down. When you start in the pantry area, group canned goods with canned goods, pasta with pasta, etc. Working form top to bottom. Seldom used items on the top.

Following secrets to kitchen organzing will help you have that calm and relaxing feeling. Less stress, no working to find where that item is. Saving you time and the hassle of having to look for it. Now go enjoy your newly organized kitchen with family and friends with a nice homecooked meal.
