- 1). Turn off your digital camera. Open the battery latch and look for the memory card inside. It is about the size of a postage stamp. Remove it from the camera by pushing aside the latch and pulling it out.
- 2). Examine the memory card for signs of rust, grease or dirt. Use a can of compressed air to spray the card if the metal contacts look dirty.
- 3). Insert the memory card into your computer's SD card slot.
- 4). Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" and click on the icon of your SD card to open the folder.
- 5). Drag and drop any photos you want to keep onto your desktop or into another folder on your computer.
- 6). Remove the memory card from your computer. Reinsert your memory card into the camera and turn it on. Go to the "Set Up" menu and search for a "Format" option. If you click on the format option, it will erase the data on your memory card and restore it back to factory settings.
