It is important to make sure all puppies have been delivered. - Thermometer - Make sure you use digital and not mercury, if a mercury thermometer breaks while in use it can cause serious injury to the female.
- Scissors - Use children's safety scissors or any surgical scissors.
- String - Used to tie umbilical cords after you cut.
Our preference is DMC Floss, it should be soaked in alcohol or betadine prior to use. - Bulb Syringe - If you need to suck out fluid from puppies nose and/or throat use a bulb syringe
- Hemostats - Used to pinch umbilical cords and stop the bleeding while you use the string to tie.
- Latex Gloves - Use gloves to help the dam deliver the puppies.
Normally the females can do everything on their own and no intervention is required.
Remember this is only if you have to get involved with the delivery of the puppies. - Ky Jelly - This is only necessary to help loosen puppies that are having a hard time coming out.
Or possible to use a thermometer and make it more comfortable for the female. - Hand Towels - These will be used to keep the area clean and to help dry the puppies.
Rubbing the puppies with a towel helps to stimulate them as well. - Heating Pad - Heating pads are used to help keep the puppies warm.

- Scale - Make sure you keep track of the puppies growth rate.
This will help you ensure that they are gaining weight and are growing at a steady rate. - Trash Bags - This will help keep the area clean and organized.
It is essential to have everything handy so you can pay close attention to the mother and puppies. - Dark Kyro Syrup - This helps increase energy in weak moms or puppies.
You can rub it on the puppies gums for fast absorption. - Puppy Formula and Bottle - Have formula on hand to help mother during feedings, especially if she has a large litter.

Heat lamps provide a better source of heat then heat pads because it's evenly distributed. - Feed Tubes - are essential for puppies who are having a hard time nursing.
