How to Keep a Mapped Drive Even When You're Logged Off

    • 1). Ensure you are connected to a network shared by the remote system to which you wish to map a drive.

    • 2). Ensure you are logged on to your computer with a user name that has access to the remote system.

    • 3). Click on the "Start" button or Windows logo, then click "Programs." If "Programs" is not available from this menu, click "All Programs."

    • 4). Select "Accessories."

    • 5). Select "Command Prompt."

    • 6). Type:

      "NET USE driveletter: \\remotecomputername\sharename /PERSISTENT:YES"

      Substitute as necessary. If you wish to map drive letter X: to the SHAREDDOCS share located on the remote computer named SERVER1, then you would type:

      "NET USE X: \\SERVER1\SHAREDDOCS /PERSISTENT:YES"

    • 7). Press the "Enter" key.
