How Do I Take Out a Kenmore 60LI Garbage Disposal?

    • 1). Remove any standing water in the sink before removing the disposal. The more water that can be removed from the sink the better. Use a cup and a bucket to bail the water and then use a sponge to soak up any remaining water.

    • 2). Unplug the disposal from the electrical outlet under the sink.

    • 3). Use a pair of slip joint pliers to remove the nut that holds the drain pipe onto the disposal. Have a bucket ready to catch any water that may leak out of the disposal or the drain pipe.

    • 4). Grasp the disposal with both hands and twist it out of the bracket that holds it to the sink drain. Have the bucket ready to catch any residual water that may leak from the top of the disposal.
