How to Replace a Toilet Pan

    • 1). Turn off the main water valve to the house.

    • 2). Flush the toilet. Throw some large towels into the bowl to soak up any water left over.

    • 3). Loosen the bolts connecting the toilet to the floor and lift the toilet up and out.

    • 4). Mop up excessive water where the toilet sat. Remove the old wax ring in its entirety.

    • 5). Place the new wax ring.

    • 6). Carefully lower the toilet onto the wax ring. The weight of the toilet helps it settle into place.

    • 7). Tighten the bolts and turn on the water.
