Do you know any about adrenal disease? In general, there are many adrenal-related diseases. Before we're able to discuss more about the adrenal disease, we need to understand basic things about adrenals first.
Principally, the adrenals are two relatively crescent-shaped glands that are observed lying within the upper pole of each kidney. Each one adrenal gland contains internal layers that generate various substances. The internal part, or adrenal medulla, creates epinephrine and norepinephrine, more commonly called adrenaline and noradrenaline. These hormones are the "fight or flight" hormones which are released in potentially "life or death" conditions.Their release accelerates heartrate and blood pressure level as well as diverts much more blood towards the brain, heart, and skeletal muscles. This is significant when talking about stress together with adrenal fatigue.
The adrenal cortex can be found outside the adrenal medulla and reacts to another kind of stress. This is when the steroid hormones are produced. These include cortisone, hydrocortisone, testosterone, estrogen, 17-hydroxy-ketosteroids, DHEA, DHEA sulfate, pregnenolone, aldosterone, androstenedione, progesterone, and some other hormones which are intermediates in production. Some of these hormones may also be made elsewhere in the body, though aldosterone, cortisone, and hydrocortisone are made only in the adrenal glands.
The hormone aldosterone, in concert with the kidneys, controls the balance of sodium and potassium in the body. This unique regulation is crucial to many areas of physiological function, along with the ability to react to anxiety and to have fluid balance. It sometimes contributes to maintenance of blood pressure level.
In summary, as what we are able to see, the adrenals are playing the main part in our body especially for the hormone creation. Hormone control is one of the most vital systems in our body too. Without proper hormone regulation, a lot of health problems will probably be stimulated. With this relatively easy article, I really hope that we can at least know the features of adrenal. Then, we will begin to discuss about the adrenal diseases in my upcoming page.
