How to Clean Black Exhaust Pipes on a Motorcycle

    • 1). Attach a cardboard backer to the motorcycle to protect the paint job on your bike from the oven cleaner. Oven cleaner can and will damage your powder coat.

    • 2). Spray the oven cleaner onto the affected areas of the motorcycle's exhaust pipes. This will work great on either cool or warm exhaust pipes. Let the oven cleaner sit for about a minute so it can penetrate through all the black. Wipe away all the oven cleaner with a rag, using circular scrubbing motions on spots that don't come right off. Rinse away all the remaining oven cleaner with water and dry it using another rag.

    • 3). Apply some chrome polish to the clean exhaust pipes, using small amounts at a time with a soft cloth. Use another soft cloth to buff the pipes.

    • 4). Remove the cardboard backing from the motorcycle.
