- 1). Decide whether your party will have a theme. You can tailor your track list to a certain party theme or to the tastes of the people that are coming. For example, if you are throwing a karaoke party for an 18-year-old boy who likes heavy metal, a standard karaoke list isn't going to cut it. Think about the people who will be at the event. If your party will have an eclectic mix, you can have a more general track list.
- 2). Read karaoke track lists online. (See Resources) This can provide a good idea of the songs that people generally include. The main focus should be on songs that will be popular with the party's guests. If you see a song on a few playlists, unless it goes against a theme, it is best to include it.
- 3). Ask your guests if they have any suggestions. Your main goal is to make people want to sing, so if you solicit suggestions, it is more likely that they will get involved. Also, if your party is for a particular person, make sure there are songs they like on the list.
- 4). More is better. The more options you have, the more people will want to sing. In the age of digital music, transportation isn't an issue. If you think a song would be a good addition to your track list, go for it.
