Every search engine gives tips and tricks about how to optimize your pages for it.
But there definitely will be certain things that it won't tell you.
Here are few things you need to know about Bing if you are trying to get #1 rankings in Bing.
1.
Domain name matters: Search for anything in Bing and you will see that the top 3 results have some version of the keyword in the domain name.
If you have more than one word as the keyword, use dashes.
Bing treats dashes as spaces.
2.
Domain age: Google gives lot of importance to domain age.
It is difficult to get good rankings for new domain names in Google.
That's not the case with Bing.
Bing doesn't seem to care about the age of a domain name.
I saw brand new domain names ranking in first page within a couple of days.
3.
Dot com: Bing seems to prefer the.
com domain.
From my research, I found.
com and co.
uk kind of links rankings higher.
4.
Fonts: We generally use H1 and 'strong' html tags for headlines.
But Bing gives importance to larger font and bolded text.
5.
Word length: Pages having lot of content does well with Google.
It is the reverse with Bing.
Content with word length of 250-500 seems to do well with Bing.
6.
Sub-domains: Bing seems to like sub-domains.
If you have sub-domains like domain.
domain.
com, then you can expect some potentially great rankings.
Same goes for domain.
domainname.
com
