- The .qbk file is created by QuickTax software. QuickTax, published by Intuit Canada, is a program that some Canadians use to prepare and file their tax returns.
- A file with the extension ".qbk" is a backup file. Each time you save a tax return file, QuickTax automatically updates and saves the .qbk version of it by default.
- The .qbk file contains the backup of a tax file you saved. The original file for which the .qbk file is acting as a backup would have the extension .qxx, with xx being numbers that correspond with the tax year.
- Should your original .qxx file become corrupt, search for the corresponding .qbk file. It is usually located directly beneath the .qxx file. Now simply rename the backup file, changing the .qbk extension to the extension of the corrupted original.
