The Fox and the Hound 2 - Overview
The unlikely friendship between a fox and a hound dog illustrated the innocence of youth and the strength of loyalty possible in a friendship in the original story of The Fox and the Hound.
The Fox and the Hound 2 reprises these themes in a new story filled with adventure and whole lot of song.
Always looking for an adventure, young Tod and Copper find themselves at the county fair, where Copper stumbles into the chance of a life time. A group of hound dogs called "The Singin' Strays" just happens to have lost their lead singer, and Copper croons his way onto the stage to fill her place.
As always, Tod is his best friend's biggest fan. But, when Copper seems to choose fame over friendship, Tod starts to feel left out and lonely. It can be lonely at the top too though, as Copper finds out, but a little understanding can bring a whole new perspective to light.
Although it is called a sequel, The Fox and the Hound 2 does not seem to fit into a logical time frame with the original. This minor inconsistency is completely forgotten, however, as the familiar characters and similarly heart-warming storyline surpass sequel expectations with beautiful animation and a truly stand-out soundtrack.
The Fox and the Hound 2 - Note to Parents
The Fox and the Hound 2 presents a strong moral of friendship and loyalty within the framwork of an enjoyalbe animated film. The music absolutely makes this movie, and the talent of the voice actors and musicians shines.
Parents should know, however, that as with the first film, there are plenty of scenes that show old Amos Slade and his big shotgun. Kids who watch the movie may have concerns about hunting or guns, especially as they come to identify with and care about animals in this movie and others.
