C4 Corvette Seat Styles

    • The Chevrolet Corvette C4 series of cars was developed from model years 1984 through 1996. The Corvette is Chevy's showcase vehicle, so many of the latest advancements that Chevy develops are first put on the Corvette. As the C4 is a classic car and a collector's item, there are a number of different modifications that have been made available over the years, with different seats being one of the more popular options. Though there are a number of manufacturers of these seats, there are two types that can be purchased: standard and sports seats. Though the sizes, colors, material and quality of these seats can vary, all the seats fit into one of these two categories.

    Standard Seats

    • Standard seats, as the name implies, are the seats that come with the C4 when bought from the factory. The standard seats are wider, and generally more comfortable for larger bodies, as the shoulder and legs fit more fully in the seats. The seats can be made from leather or fabric, and colors vary based on the color of the car.

    Sports Seats

    • Also referred to as Adaptive Sports Seats, sports seats are narrower at the shoulders and thighs, providing additional support for the driver, although they may not be as comfortable for larger users, as they may not fit into the seat very well. Some sports seats offer lumbar support, and other features such as heating or a mesh vent for cooling. The reason for the name is that sport seats hold the driver in place better than the standard seats, so that when performing at higher speeds the driver can stay in control.

    Seat Covers

    • Though there are only two seat types, there are seat covers for either type that can provide improved comfort, protection and style. Made from a variety of materials, the seat covers are mostly used to protect the seats from stains and wear and tear. Some seat covers will also have additional padding, and for some models of the C4 side air bags were available, and some seat covers have specific designs to provide for the air bag. The covers come in many colors and fabrics such as black leather or cloth, red leather, gray leather and saddle leather.
