- 1). Launch Virtual PC and double-click the virtual machine that you would like to boot from a CD.
- 2). Click the "CD" pull-down menu at the top of the Virtual PC window, and select "Use Physical Drive D:." If your CD or DVD drive has a different letter assignment, select that drive instead.
- 3). Click the "Action" pull-down menu and select "Reset." Alternatively, press the right "Alt" and "R" keys simultaneously to reset the virtual machine.
- 4). Click the "Reset" button in the window that appears. The virtual machine boots from the CD.
- 1). Launch VMware Player. Click the virtual machine that you would like to boot from a CD, and then click "Edit virtual machine settings" in the bottom-right corner of the window.
- 2). Click "CD/DVD" under the hardware column.
- 3). Click the "Use physical drive" radio button under "Connection."
- 4). Place a check in the "Connect at power on" box.
- 5). Click "OK," and then double-click the virtual machine to start it.
- 6). Click inside the virtual machine window to make it active, and then press the "Esc" key on the keyboard as soon as the virtual machine begins booting. The "Boot Menu" screen appears.
- 7). Press the down-arrow key twice to highlight "CD-ROM Drive" and press "Enter" to boot from the CD.
