The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday - OLTL Recap for Sept. 24, 2008
At the high school gym, Cole and Markko discuss how brave Starr was standing up to her classmates at assembly. Thornhart wonders if he should have stepped in to defend his girlfriend. In a nearby hallway, the principal announces to Blair and Starr that the pregnant teen is a distraction to the other students and needs to be tutored at home. Blair challenges the principal and accuses her of being afraid of the reaction from other parents.
Cramer feels the school needs to face the fact that getting pregnant happens to a lot of teenagers and should not be hidden. When the boys join the group, Cole decides he’s staying home too if Starr has to. When the principal tells Cole there’s no reason for him to dropout, Markko accuses her of favoring Cole because he’s a super jock and they need him on the teams. The principal finally backs down when Cramer reminds her of the many family ties to the media – The Banner, The Sun and Craze and she won’t hesitate to use them to expose this injustice!
At the Buchanan Palace bar, Dallas kids with Bo about them being a floor apart at the establishment. When Clint joins them and is asked for an update on BE, the elder brother assures his sibling he has everything under control. Bo asks about the “consultant” he just missed meeting the previous day. When Clint says that it’s all for good of the family, Bo laughs and says he sees the same passion in his brother as he did in Asa.
Dorian and Langston are shocked as the filer of the injunction enters the courtroom. It’s Ray Montez and his attorney!
Amid Dr. Lord’s protests, Montez’s counsel assures the judge that the charges of murder against Ray were dropped and he had been wrongfully imprisoned at Plato Prison. When Ray is called to the stand, the judge witnesses a passionate plea from Montez. Ray just wants to preserve the family connection by adopting Langston. When Dorian follows with her testimony, she tries to convince the judge that while she can’t provide memories of her ward’s family, she can provide a stable home environment and love. She reminds the judge that Montez was estranged from his sister for twenty years! Langston also offers a testimony and pleads with the judge to let her stay with Dorian. He then adjourns to chambers to review the case.
At another part of the courthouse, after guard explains to the military attired Brody and “his son” that they bypassed the metal detector upon their entrance, Brody apologizes. After Lovett assures him that they’re leaving anyway, the guard escorts them out of the building.
At the Llanfair Carriage House, Gigi, Rex and Marcie are in a panic not only about kidnapped Shane, but the fact Brody has a gun! Rex is frustrated because the cops still haven’t gotten there. When Bo finally arrives, he shares the concern after seeing Marcie’s bleeding forehead and the empty gun box. While the girls take an officer upstairs to Shane’s room, Rex asks Bo why Brody was in full uniform. The Commish solemnly explains that it can open doors and adds that war can change a man.
Over at Angel Square, Charlie tries to convince Michael that he’s giving up on his marriage too quickly. Marcie later joins them and Michael lovingly administers first aid.
At Buchanan Palace, Dallas takes advantage of being alone with Clint and becomes the totally understanding friend. Clint obviously likes having a pretty, flirtatious ally on his side. When Dallas finds out her hotel room is flooded by a broken pipe, Buchanan invites her to stay with him at Nora’s house.
On Llantano Mountain, Shane is excited about camping out with his “Dad.” Brody, now dressed in fatigues, gets a dazed look as he unloads his duffle bag and explains he’s going to teach “his son” survival. The Navy Seal’s motto is “The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday” meaning that one treats each day as if it may be their last! Shane suggests they call his Mom just to let her know where they are. Brody is heard leaving a message of their whereabouts and promises to have Shane at school the next day. The front of the cell phone shows “No Service.” Brody methodically pulls his gun out of the bag!
Bo, Rex and Gigi have relocated to the Courthouse and are in panic when the guard verifies the couple he escorted out was Brody and Shane! Gigi is hysterical as the duo already has an hour’s start. More hysteria is getting ready to break out as Judge Jenkins returns with his decision --- Ray Montez has been awarded custody of Langston!
