- 1). Dampen a clean cloth with water and pour a teaspoon of dish soap on the cloth. Rub the cloth over the surface of the leather. Move in a circular motion over the entire surface and scrub out any visible dirt or grease. Rinse off the soap with a damp rag.
- 2). Wipe the area dry with a clean rag. Put a small dab of vinegar onto a clean rag and scrub the leather thoroughly.
- 3). Apply antiseptic mouthwash on the leather just like the vinegar was applied. Pour the mouthwash on a clean cloth and move over the surface in a circular motion to kill anything on the surface of the leather.
- 4). Apply a thin coat of leather conditioner to the surface of the leather after it has been exposed to the sun. Rub on the oil in a circular motion and let it dry for two hours or until dry to the touch. Apply a second coat in the same manner, if necessary.
