A story of Krish and Ananya, a boy from Punjab and girl from Tamil Nadu (two states in India, which are culturally very diverse) meet in IIM Ahmedabad and fall in love.
This story is loosely based on real life experiences of the author himself as he met his wife (from Tamil Nadu) in IIM Ahmedabad and had to do a bit of cajoling of the families to get them to agree to the marriage.
In usual love stories, boy meets girl, falls in love, they decide to get married, inform their parents, parents meet each other, finalize details and the boy and girl get married and live happily ever after but hold on that's not how this story goes about, this story is set in India, where things are never as simple as that! Krish sees Ananya in the mess of IIMA, fighting with the caterer about the quality of sambhar.
She is beautiful and the hot topic of discussion for the batch and he falls for her then and there.
Soon they become friends, decide to study together in evenings and very soon they are in love with each other.
Krish is not sure about marriage but the day he has his placement interview, he goes in the middle to propose to Ananya in the most filmy style.
Then they decide to introduce their parents into the equation and all hell breaks loose.
Parents cant stand the sight of each other and the couple is heartbroken, still trying.
Krish lands up with a job in Citibank in Chennai and goes all out to woo his future in-laws.
The story is wonderfully narrated from Krish's point of view and is hilarious when at times he takes a dig at the Punjabi or the Tamilian culture and beliefs.
The story moves on with its share of ups and downs, highs and lows but is never dull or boring to read.
This is not the first book I have read from this author but this is definitely better than the last two I read from him.
This one is comparable to "Five Point Someone" which was hilarious and touching at the same time.
This book has the back drop of "five point someone", where though character names are entirely different but a reference is made to characters in the first book, like the professor's daughter the hero of "Five Point Someone" loved.
But overall, an entertaining book which has its funny moments, unbelievable moments, senti-moments yet some so true moments.
A good book for light weight reading and some relaxing fun.
