What Does It Cost to Get Started In Business Golf?

If you are just starting out in business, chances are you have heard about how fantastic business golf can be for your business, and for company growth, but you might also be thinking that it would cost you a fortune to make golf a part of your network and relationship building efforts.

That is not strictly true, and while golf is big business, it does not have to cost you an arm and a leg to get started.

Basic Equipment

One day, when your business is flourishing, and your business golf is more about maintaining relationships, and enjoying the fruits of your labours, you will probably be doing so from the most expensive course, with the most expensive clubs you can find.

When you are first starting out, however, it is not necessary to spend a fortune on fancy equipment. In most cities and towns, you will find good second hand clubs for sale, for instance, and aside from golf shoes, which are a must for most golf courses, most comfortable clothing can be worn to the course.

Getting Started

It is true that you do not need to be a fantastic golfer to get the benefits of business golf, but if you are just starting out, a good idea is to spend some time at a golf driving range, before you play with colleagues, potential clients, or business associates. You will be able to work on your swing, without spending a fortune, and you will not feel too out of place when you do accept an invitation to play!

Having a few basic lessons from a golf pro is another good idea, and will give you the confidence to venture onto the course with business associates and clients, knowing that you can at least hold your own.

Networking for Less

If you are serious about using business golf to boost your business, then you need to make sure that you attend golfing events where you are likely to meet the right kind of business people. Just playing with your friends is not going to benefit your business!

In addition to accepting invitations from people you meet in the course of your business day, you can also look out for business networking events being held by specialist companies in your area. These are usually a great place to meet other entrepreneurs and business people, and can put you in contact with people who can help your business.

Business golf does not need to cost you a fortune, but if you are clever about where, when and who you play, it can bring plenty of business into your company. So if you have been considering taking up golf as a business related sport, but have been putting it off because you thought it was too expensive, think again!

The investment you make in playing golf can pay off, big, for your business, so it is well worth considering if you are serious about business.
