How to Decrease Treadmill Noise

    • 1). Place the treadmill on a carpeted area. The carpet will help muffle the noise from running or jogging -- as well as minimize the vibration noises.

    • 2). Put rubber mats under the treadmill. Exercise rubber mats for gym equipment are designed for both protecting floors and minimizing noise from vibrations. The mats help absorb vibrations to lower noise levels.

    • 3). Avoid placing the treadmill near walls. This is not only important for safety while using the treadmill, but it also prevents the treadmill hitting the walls, which could create an incessant knocking.

    • 4). Lubricate the treadmill regularly. Most treadmills need the belt lubricated once every six months or so for optimal performance. Look in the treadmill users manual for recommended lubricants for the treadmill.
