How to Make a "Minecraft" Incinerator

    Basic Setup for All Incinerators

    • 1). Find a location for your incinerator away from any burnable materials. If you place lava or fire near burnable blocks, they will eventually catch on fire and spread the fire to other nearby burnable objects. Fires may start up to six blocks away from the incinerator, even through walls, so use caution to avoid destroying wooden structures or forests. Logs, planks, bookcases, TNT, leaves and wool are all flammable.

    • 2). Construct a trough, hole, recess or other container to hold the lava or fire. Use nonflammable materials such as cobblestone, stone, glass, dirt or sandstone to ensure the incinerator does not catch fire. Leave at least one block of free space open so you may toss items into the flames.

    • 3). Build a small wall or fence and position it to prevent players and livestock from accidentally wandering into the incinerator and catching fire. You may wish to keep a source of water nearby to douse players in case of accidental combustion.

    Lava Incinerator

    • 1). Craft a bucket for gathering lava. A bucket requires three iron ingots arranged in a "V" pattern created from a crafting table. A bucket will hold a single block of flowing lava, so create multiple buckets if you want a larger lava pool or an incinerator with multiple lava recesses.

    • 2). Find a lava source-block and right-click it with a bucket to add it to your inventory. Lava naturally occurs deep underground in large pools and more rarely on the surface. Use caution when gathering lava to avoid falling in the pool and catching fire.

    • 3). Right-click to place the lava blocks into the incinerator. Keep in mind that lava flows downward if able, so ensure your incinerator is properly enclosed to avoid unwanted spreading of lava.

    Fire Incinerator

    • 1). Gather netherrack from the Nether dimension. Unlike other flammable blocks, this unique substance will burn forever when lit, making it the perfect component for a maintenance-free incinerator. To travel to the Nether dimension, you must first construct a Nether portal using obsidian, which in turn requires a diamond pickaxe to mine properly. If you have not yet gathered diamond or obsidian, you may wish to make a lava incinerator until you have additional resources.

    • 2). Place a single block or multiple blocks of netherrack on the floor of the incinerator, depending on the size of the incinerator and how many blocks of fire you wish to use.

    • 3). Light each block of netherrack using flint and steel. You can construct flint and steel in the crafting window using a single iron ingot and one piece of flint, arranged with the iron diagonally above the flint. The incinerator will burn forever unless you manually douse it.
