- 1). Place 3 tbsp. of water into a pot, and place a candy thermometer into the water.
- 2). Pour 1 cup of granulated sugar into the water.
- 3). Heat the mixture over medium heat until the mixture reaches 300 degrees Fahrenheit, then reduce the heat to low to allow the mixture to remain at a steady heat. If you keep the heat on medium after the temperature is 300 degrees, the sugar may scorch and burn.
- 4). Simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes. This will cause the sugar to transform into a carmelized syrup in the water.
