Holidays are a great time to teach your children the value of being generous.
During Christmas and other special occasions most parents think about the gifts they should be buying for their kids.
However, not many think about the children who are not so fortunate.
These less fortunate kids can be orphans, or children from poor families.
When you buy gifts for your children, teach them how to let go of some of their toys and ask them to share with a poor child in the neighborhood or if possible visit an orphanage with them to donate their old clothes and toys.
Also, when they donate and when you give them something new, tell them that because they are being generous they are getting their presents as well.
Giving and receiving is a part of nature itself.
Human beings should have these qualities all the more.
If children only get presents all the time and do not learn to share, then they can become extremely selfish and materialistic in life.
They will never learn the value of sharing and this quality will reflect in their personal lives later.
Being selfish is not a good thing and we all know that.
Generosity brings about a healthy cycle and children should be a part of it.
It is every parent's moral duty to teach their children to take care of their immediate environment.
Also, just telling them is not enough.
They should teach the children by setting or showing an example.
A simple act of generosity can be immensely satisfying and enriching experience for all those involved.
