Ghostbusters - The Video Game by Atari Inc is the first time the four stars of the original Ghostbusters movies reunite to bring this old time favorite back to life.
While the actors may be too old to star in a movie featuring their younger selves, they lend their voices to the video game characters in this game.
Here, you take the role of a new Ghostbuster who joins the remaining old members as they battle and capture ghosts all across New York.
The setting of the game is right after the 2nd movie, so in a sense, this game was supposed to be the 3rd movie.
The numerous cut scenes in this movie are absolutely stunning, and this game proceeds as if it is an actual movie.
Surprisingly, the gameplay is very good as well.
You carry the signature proton pack, but it has 4 different shooting modes instead of the ordinary proton stream.
This adds variety to the ways you can attack and capture ghosts.
Also, the kinds of ghosts and ghouls are also quite varied, so you don't end up trapping the same ones over and over again.
Likewise, you can upgrade your proton pack in many different ways by purchasing these upgrades.
You earn money for every ghost you beat.
The only quip I have about this game is how your character seems to be an extra member of the group.
You cannot design you own character, you cannot speak, and you don't even have a name.
But hey, this game isn't about the new guy.
It's about the original Ghostbusters coming back together to kick some ghost but.
And that's why I love this game.
