Fun Tea Party Games

    • From children's birthday parties to adult showers, or just an afternoon get-together for friends, tea parties provide a traditional gathering. Depending on the party's formality or theme, hosts may want to provide some fun games for guests. If hosting a tea for children, you will need to provide activities. Teas honoring a bridal or baby shower usually feature games as well.

    Musical Chairs

    • Organize a traditional game of musical chairs for an adult or children's tea party. Set up a line of chairs, alternating facing forwards and backwards. Set up one less chair than number of guests. Play music, encouraging guests to dance and move around the chairs. When you stop the music, each guest takes a seat. The guest left standing is out. Remove one chair each time a guest is out. The last guest sitting is the winner.

    Gaze and Relic

    • This traditional English tea party game can be themed for a children's tea, bridal or baby shower, depending on the items you present. Choose 15 to 20 items to place on a tray. For a children's party, choose "relics" such as marbles, small dolls or crayons. For a baby shower, choose baby care items which you can present to the expectant mom after the game. For brides-to-be, choose wedding items such as a garter and small household items. Allow guests to look at the tray for thirty seconds before covering. Each guest will have thirty seconds to write down items they remember. Compare lists. Any item listed by more than one guest is crossed off. Guests with the most items left on their lists are the winners.

    Pass the Parcel

    • Pass the Parcel is another traditional English game. Cover a chocolate bar with layers of tissue paper. On each layer, print an instruction for a silly task. You should use twice as many layers of tissue as guests. Seat guests in a circle. Pass the parcel around the circle while playing music in the background. When you stop the music, the one holding the parcel must perform the task. Continue until you arrive at the last layer. The last guest to receive the parcel and perform the final task wins the chocolate bar.

    Old Lady

    • Assemble an assortment of "old lady" clothes and accessories, including a cane, granny classes and other items for this dress-up relay. Lined up in two teams, guests take turns dressing in "old lady" clothes, removing clothes for the next teammate and running to back of line. The first team to finish wins. Be sure to take plenty of photos!

    Toilet Paper Gown

    • Create gowns from toilet paper in this traditional shower game. Divide guests into small groups, selecting a model from each group. Teams design a gown and accessories from toilet paper. A guest of honor can choose the winning team.
