How to Completely Reinstall Mac OS

    • 1). Insert the Mac OS X Install DVD into the optical disc drive on you Mac, and double-click the "Install Mac OS X" icon that appears on the desktop.

    • 2). Click "Utilities" on the menu bar and click "Restart" to boot your computer from the installation disc.

    • 3). Click the "Language" menu, then click "English." Click "Continue."

    • 4). Click "Utilities" and "Disk Utility." Click the name of your hard drive in the window that appears and click "Erase." Click the "Volume" menu and click "Mac OS Extended." Click "Erase" to uninstall your Mac OS operating system. Close the "Disk Utility" to return to the Install Mac OS X menu.

    • 5). Click the "Install Mac OS X" option and click "Next." Click your hard drive in the box that appears and click "Next" to reinstall Mac OS X to your computer.
