Gethsemane was a garden of burdens where Christ's spirit was heavier than most could imagine.
This was one of the most trying points of his life where he cried out to his Father, asking for deliverance from that which he was about to face.
At this time, Jesus knew that his life would be taken and he would be delivered to the Jews wanting his life.
He knew that this moment was just hours from happening.
The Bible describes his sweat to be like blood, because of agony that he would soon endure.
Though Christ knew that the band of men were coming to arrest him, with Judas at their lead, he stayed and did not turn to evade the situation or the judgment of his enemies; he knew this to be God's will on his life and the purpose for why he was sent.
"Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
" (Luke 19:9-10) Jesus always knew his purpose.
So many times we do not know the way throughout life, and we do not know or feel connected to our purpose.
But Christ always knew what he was here to do and kept sight of it throughout his entire time of ministry.
How many of us can say that we have traveled through this life without ever losing sight of our purpose? Jesus knew what he was here to do and, as the verse referenced above says, he was here to 'seek and to save the lost.
' Let us bear these things in mind and consider what it means to be 'lost.
