The Facts About Teeth Whitening That Most Don"t Know About

Most people don't know this but whitening toothpastes only remove surface stains from teeth. This will only reveal the underlying whiteness of teeth. If you want to get the best results, it will be in your your best interest to use a stronger, proven solution.

While bleaching agents make teeth whiter, they aren't the best and/or safest method for whitening teeth. We'll speak on the best and safest method later.

The most common chemical teeth bleaching agents are hydrogen peroxide & carbamide peroxide.

How long it takes for these teeth whitening systems to be effective depends on just how bad your teeth are discolored.

Bleaching works best for yellow stains which are caused by a number of reason mentioned below. Teeth with a grayish color, can get their color from certain antibiotics and are much harder to whiten; but not impossible with the right system.

The best results for teeth whitening systems tend to go to people who have stains from smoking, red wine and/or coffee. The systems work best if you can cut down on what causes the stains in the first place.

Until a while ago, there was only one way to get whiter teeth and that was taking a trip to the dental office. Now, since the demand for whiter teeth has gone up tremendously, home bleaching kits have flooded the market.

At a dental office, the dentist applies a teeth whitening gel which contains a high amount of hydrogen peroxide, to your teeth. This is then activated by a special blue colored high intensity laser, causing the gel to release oxygen molecules. The laser simply activates the bleaching gel; it doesn't penetrate the teeth in any way. How well this procedure works will be based on the shade of your teeth before bleaching.

While in-office teeth bleaching is considered the safest since it's dealing directly with a professional, it can also be the most expensive and time consuming. This is why home teeth whitening systems are the 1st choice for those seeking whiter teeth. Better results will come based on your choice for a do-it-yourself teeth whitening kit.

The tray teeth whitening technique just happens to be the most uncomfortable. It involves using a plastic tray which is filled with a teeth whitening gel and then fitted over your teeth. By keeping the gel on your teeth for a set period of time, your teeth will get whiter after a few sessions. If you are planning to use teeth bleaching products, you should always consult a dentist for advice.

The only problem I see with consulting professionals is sometimes they give advise based on medicine instead of natural cures; which we'll speak on later.

The biggest problem with bleaching teeth using chemicals are side effects. They include an increase in tooth sensitivity and the bleaching agent may irritate the gums. Even though many don't consider them, side effects should be the biggest concern. Some people looking to whiten their teeth even experience extreme pain. While it is often recommended that you seek professional advise, dentists often times, won't advise you on the best cures which are natural cures.

Teeth whitening results can vary from person to person. Most people end up very satisfied with their results but if you don't stop what you were doing that played a role in staining your teeth, you'll be using teeth whitening systems forever.
