The Intel Lanai motherboard is a system board that was previously utilized by Gateway in the manufacturing of many of its computers. The Intel Lanai motherboard utilized the low-profile NLK form factor which provided an advantage over LPX motherboards by being able to better handle thermal characteristics and support the larger size of new processors. The Intel Lanai board was well designed to handle emerging technologies when it was produced, but has become outdated and replaced by more modern system boards.

    Processor

    • The Intel Lanai motherboard provides support for socket 370, 72-pin processors utilizing a 100 MHz front side bus. The processor socket is easily accessible on this board design and the processor is cooled better because of the uncrowded position of the processor socket.

    Graphics

    • Two dimensional and three dimensional graphics engines are integrated into the Intel Lanai motherboard to provide enhanced graphics rendering and support.

    Memory

    • Two DIMM memory banks are built into the Intel Lanai system board and can support up to 512 megabytes of unbuffered non-ECC PC-100 speed memory when one 256 megabyte memory module is installed in each memory slot.

    Network Connectivity

    • The motherboard utilizes the Intel 82559 Ethernet Wired for Management PCI LAN subsystem to support an integrated 10/100 Ethernet connection allowing for ease of network connectivity.

    Audio

    • The Intel Lanai motherboard utilizes Intel's Audio Codec 97 integrated chipset for analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog audio conversion to provide high-quality audio playback and reproduction.

    Ports

    • This system board is equipped with one parallel port, one serial port, one VGA port for external monitor capabilities, two PS/2 ports, two USB ports, one audio line in port and one audio out port.

    Accessibility--Form Factor

    • The NLX form factor of the Intel Lanai motherboard allows the system board to be clear of drive bays and case-mounted components. This provides ease of access to board components without having to remove other system hardware.
