How to Write a Story for a Puppet Show

    • 1). Decide on a story line or plot. Depending on the age of the children you are writing the puppet story for, you may choose to implement a scene from a favorite children’s movie or a positive real-life event they have experienced. The puppet show story can also be written to teach the children a lesson about friendship or the importance of sharing.

    • 2). Develop your puppet show characters. Create enough characters to make the story interesting but not so many that the children lose focus as to what is going on. Your characters are only limited by your imagination. You can bring life to these characters by choosing favorite stuffed animals or dolls and the personalities the children have given them during playtime.

    • 3). Generate a dialogue between the puppets to follow your story line. Get the children involved in the story by having the puppets ask questions and invite their opinions. Play music so the children can sing along and be involved with the story. Add humor and fun facts to your puppet story to keep them interested as well.

    • 4). Choose how you wish the story to end such as the lesson you are trying to convey to the children. To make it even more interesting, you can involve the children by asking them how they believe the story should end.
