The New York Musical Theatre Festival Awards

Definition:

Awards given out via the NYMTF (New York Musical Theatre Festival) include The NYMF (New York Musical Theatre) Awards for Excellence and NYMF's Next Broadway Sensation, a performance contest designed to identify talented young musical theater performers and to give them vital industry exposure.

NYMF's "Next Broadway Sensation" begins with a large audition open to any auditioners 18 or over, who have not yet performed on Broadway, and is whittled down to 10 finalists over a two-day period.

The winner is then awarded a solo showcase concert at Joe's Pub, produced by NYMF and Grammy-winning producer Sh-K-Boom Records, and promoted by TheaterMania.

Previous winners have gone on to appear on Broadway in the casts of South Pacific, American Idiot, West Side Story, and Hair.
