A model's portfolio is his or her first chance to make a great impression.
As such, it must make a great and lasting impression.
While the contents of a model's portfolio may vary based on the type of work being done, there are some things that should be considered by every model creating a portfolio.
Variety The first step to a great portfolio is to have a variety of images.
The collection of shots included in the portfolio should include various types of outfits and makeup, as well as different poses and settings.
Ten to 25 shots are recommended, but it is important the model is sure to show his or her range.
The goal should not be to include as many shots as possible, but to include the absolute best shots and nothing that you don't consider great.
Be sure to include both close up head shots and full body shots.
Quality Quality of images is an integral part of any portfolio.
Be sure to look for a photographer that has experience with this type of photography so you can be sure yours is the best that it can be.
This is a crucial decision and one that should not be made without careful consideration.
The images should be at least 8" x 10" in size, but no more than 11" x 14".
Presentation Before presenting your portfolio, be sure it is well organized.
Start with your best head shot, something your photographer can help you to decide.
Also be sure that if you are using images from multiple photographers that you know who shot which images, as this is a question that will be commonly asked.
Just like a resume, your portfolio should change as your experience does.
If you take a great shot, add it and if you work on a campaign be sure to include it.
Images more then a year old should generally be replaced with newer ones.
