Many people are in the market for solar power systems for their home or vacation getaway. They could be looking at a complete system for the house or maybe a back up electrical power source. A lot of these people are building their own from kits and others are paying to have them installed, many taking advantage of the rebates.
When it comes to storing this energy, you need to have batteries. You can have electrical power as the sun is generating it, but if you do not store it there won't be any power for the evening or on cloudy days. The best battery to use is deep cycle, the kind you can find on golf carts or fork lifts.
Unfortunately they can be expensive to buy, so if you are trying to keep your cost down what do you do? Try locating someone that reconditions batteries, they might have some on hand that you could purchase cheaper than if they were new. Another possibility is finding discarded deep cycle batteries that you might get for free and find someone to recondition them for you.
And if batteries can be reconditioned why not look into doing it yourself. It would be much cheaper than buying new ones and you could recondition batteries that you find at home. You would save a lot on the expense of setting up your solar power system, and you could make some money on the side if you were inclined to by reconditioning other people's batteries for a fee.
