When it comes to US TV then we have to say the US features some of the worst TV programming going, with more wooden acting in some shows than you'd find in a forest. However it also features some shows which are truly world class and loved the world over like NCIS and CSI Miami.
Newcomers with a couple of series under there belt are elementary and the dome. And there is great new content coming all the time like Halt and Catch Fire (A must see from the start if you've not yet seen it!
Now you may love these great shows just as much as we do, but if you have watch them online in the US like many of us now do then you might be in for a shock if you take your iPad or laptop with you when you go on holiday and plan on watching them. This is because none of the major US broadcasters allow you to watch their shows online from abroad.
That is correct - if you were planning on watching last weeks missed episode of NCIS on demand whilst in the hotel bar on holiday then you are not going to be able to do so.
This is because all of the US broadcasters limit the viewing of all their online content to computers that have a US ip address, and it may be no surprise to learn that you only get a US ip address when your computer is sat in the US.
So if you need a US ip address to watch US TV overseas online but can only get one when you are in the US then how can you watch US TV overseas online?
Well the answer is to use a US VPN service, as this will usefully give you access to the internet via a US ip address when you are outside of America. It does so by allowing you to connect from wherever you are in the World back to a US based VPN server, which acts as your access point.
In letting you do this it means that you in effect access the internet from a computer with a US ip address.
This is most useful as it means that to each site that you visit you are seen as a US visitor and thus it helpfully removes any such geographical blocks that prevent you watching US TV online from abroad.
