- 1). Place a lemon on top of a cutting board so that it is on its side.
- 2). Grasp the lemon firmly in one hand and use a sharp kitchen knife to slice a 1/2-inch section from the top of the lemon. Turn the lemon around and cut a 1/2-inch slice off the bottom.
- 3). Place one cut end of the lemon on the cutting board so that the lemon is upright.
- 4). Place a vegetable peeler at the top of the lemon, along the edge of the peel. Push the peeler into the fruit approximately 1/4 inch and move it in a downward motion until reaching the bottom of the lemon. You will have a long, thin strip of lemon peel. Continue peeling strips from the lemon in the same manner until the entire lemon is peeled.
- 5). Slice any remaining white areas off the lemon using the kitchen knife.
