- 1). Estimate their worth. Skis one season old in good shape might sell for about half what you paid. After two seasons, with light use, expect to get 30 to 40 percent of their original price. Between three and five seasons old, expect about $100 to $200. If they're more than five years old, consider them a permanent part of the house or sell for the price of a casual dinner for two.
- 2). Run a classified ad only if you reside in a ski town or your local paper frequently has a lot of these listings.
- 3). Bring your equipment to a ski shop and ask for ideas. Suggest that your next purchase be contingent upon selling your old gear.
- 4). Consider keeping your old skis. They are great for perfecting your waxing and repair skills, and can be useful during early season conditions when you're likely to run into exposed rocks.
