- Rose wine is lighter in color than red wine because during processing, the grape skins are only soaked briefly before they are removed. Depending upon the technique used to make the wine, rose wine can vary in color. The color can range from pink to pale orange and as dark as a vivid pinkish-purple hue. The wine should be clear without cloudiness or sediment.
