- 1). Unfold the brochure and lay it flat on a table. If there are pages stapled inside, pull apart the staples and unfold those pages as well, laying them on the table next to the first page.
- 2). Set the 8 1/2 inch x 11-inch sheet of paper on top of one brochure page. If the pages line up completely, you know the measurement of your brochure page is 8 1/2 x 11. If the paper does not line up, use your measuring tape to measure the length and width of your brochure. This measurement will be used when talking with the printer.
- 3). Count the number of sheets in the brochure. If there is only one sheet of paper, you would tell the printer you want a one-page brochure. If there are two sheets, you would have a two-page brochure.
- 4). Count the number of folds in the brochure. If there is only one fold, you have a two-panel brochure. If there are two folds, you have a three-panel brochure. When talking to the printer, you will want to give him both your folding and your page specifications along with the measurements.
- 1). Grasp the brochure in one of your hands and flip through the pages, making sure none of the pages are sticking together.
- 2). Count the pages, beginning with page one and going to the end. Do not count by sheet but by page, so each folded section should count as one page. If the front and back of a sheet is printed, that would count for two pages.
- 3). Recheck your page count, making sure you took both the front and back of each panel into account. If you have one sheet folded twice, with print on the front and back, you would have six pages. This number will be used when designing the brochure.
