Organisation: Early Childhood Care and Education

Scott defines organisation in this words, "Organisation are defined as collectivises that have been established for the pursuit of relatively specific objectives on a more or less continuous basis. Other features include relatively fixed boundaries, a normative order, authority ranks, a communication system, and on incentive system which enable carious types of participants to work together in the pursuit of common goals. Hall adds to this one more dimension - the environment as the environment affects the inputs and outputs of the organisation.

Characteristics of Organisation:
Morden social, education and business institutions have emerged as complex, massive system. This trend towards more complex organisations, is basic in human societies, and is moving in a large way through many cultures. Societies are not static. They are continuously changing. New social forms emerge; old ones modify their forms, change their traditional functions and acquire a new meanings. This growth of large scale organisations has resulted into changed organisational climate which affects the effectiveness and productivity of all organisation.

EDUCATIONAL ORGANISATION
Interdependence Administration:
Organisation and administration are greatly interdependent. Good administration depends to a large extent on good organisation. Good organisation determines the degree of success in administration. If organisation is just like setting up a machine then its proper functioning and operation may be compared to administration. One in the absence of other is meaningless. Nevertheless they are not identical. In other words organisation determines the degree of success in administration.

Distinction from administration:
1. Administration is primarily concerned with management- with the conduct, operation and management of an enterprise. Organisation is primarily concerned with the pre-execution stage- the stage which involves collection and co-ordination of materials and resources so as to be put into operation, whereas administration is execution stage.

2. The organisational aspect is primarily concerned with making arrangements that permit the beginning of purpose realisation; the administrative phase is concerned with actual conduct and operation of arrangement made available through organisation. Thus, construction of a school building and procurement of different supplies and equipment would be a matter of organisation, making proper use of those things would be a matter of administration.

3. Nursery Teacher Training observes, "The organisation of a school is the administrative expression of educational theory." The educational theory leads to educational organisation which is attained through the efforts of the administration. The organisation is a structure or plan. The creation of it is the function of administration.

4. The appropriate procedure, which are to be followed in the organisation or even to create the organisation so that basic policies may be implemented, are planned and executed by the administration.

ROLE OF SCHOOL ORGANISATION
Early Childhood Care & Education stated seven activities, viz, planning, organising, staffing, directing, co-ordinating, reporting and budgeting, which enters into two phases. It may be difficult to say which one of them exclusively belongs to this or that phase. Organisation may be poor to begin with. It can be improve upon by the administration. Organisation is the part of administration. We cannot have administration without organisation. If one were to compare the organisation and administration to its healthy body and its daily work, one would not be far from understanding their exact relationship.
