That's a big claim so let me back it up and share with you some business blogging tips.
Business Blogging Tips to Win Business How do people find things nowadays? Google.
If I were to travel to London on business and I wanted to find a restaurant for the evening, I would type "best Indian restaurant London" into Google and then click on the search results.
Plumbers, lawyers, hairdressers, delivery companies - whatever I am looking for I, and many others, Google it.
Even if I already know the company, I still check them out.
The internet has transformed how people buy.
Buyers are much more informed and they enjoy this power.
This has very important implications for you as a business person.
Firstly, if the buyer doesn't find you on the internet, you are effectively invisible.
They will not come and find you.
In fact, they may even know your physical location but they won't contact you unless they know more about you.
Secondly, if they do find you, you need to make an impression and send the right message to them.
Business blogging can help you in both these areas.
Google loves blogs.
They do well in search engine rankings so making sure that you DO blog is my first tip.
Here are my other business blogging tips to win business:
- create blog posts using the keywords that people type when searching for your type of business
- ensure that your posts have search-engine friendly URLs.
In WordPress I would suggest that you set Permalinks to /%category%/%postname%/, and use keywords for your categories - let your personality come through - people buy people! Blogs are a great way to establish credibility and trust but in a more personal way than your 'formal' website
- talk about your customers or clients - testimonials without them coming across as promotional tools
- set up automatic posting to social bookmarking sites
- provide links to your blog from your main site and from content that you create at other sites (like EzineArticles!)
Business Blogging Tips To Increase Business A business blog is an excellent way to increase business from existing customers.
- as mentioned above, talk about your clients in your blog - everyone likes to read about themselves
- use feedburner to make it easy for people to subscribe to your blog - and to email your posts to others
- become a community resource - you don't need to talk only about yourself.
Attract people to your blog by publicizing events in the community.
- encourage comments and discussion around your posts
- provide special offers to blog subscribers
In most markets, buyers want to see beyond the formal, official front and understand more about the people they will be dealing with.
Blogging allows you to present a more rounded, accessible face.
I would strongly recommend that you don't see your blogging in isolation though.
It should be part of an integrated approach that encompasses social marketing sites such as Facebook and business networks like LinkedIn.
This is particularly so where you are selling services.
The problem with a service is that I can't touch and feel it.
I don't know what I am getting until I've got it.
That means that for me as a buyer, there is greater risk.
The more I know about you, the lower the risk.
Social sites provide you with another opportunity to reassure and establish your credibility.
So my final business blogging tip is: integrate your blog with your profile on social sites.
