Tic douloureux is the French term for trigeminal neuralgia, a condition caused by dysfunction of the trigeminal nerve. The two terms may be used interchangeably.

Tic douloureux is a type of neuropathic pain, and may be caused by disorders such as multiple sclerosis or facial trauma.
