How to Cure Time Cement Under a Spa

    • 1). Screed the concrete as soon as you pour it. A screed is usually a long board which you push or pull over the fresh concrete to level and compact the surface.

    • 2). Cover the concrete with plastic sheeting immediately after screeding. Staple the plastic sheeting to the concrete forms using a stapler.

    • 3). Remove the plastic sheeting when you remove the forms 24-48 hours after the concrete pour.

    • 4). Check the surface of the concrete for "water bleed." Water will sometimes pool on the surface of fresh concrete. Remove this water from the fresh slab by rescreeding, by dragging a garden hose over the surface of the slab or with a leaf blower.

    • 5). Recover the concrete slab with plastic sheeting after removing the forms. The plastic slows the cure time and makes the concrete harder when it cures.

    • 6). Remove the plastic sheeting five days after the pour and install your spa seven days after the pour.
