- Scholarships are available for food service educators and culinary instructors through the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF). A scholarship in the amount of $1,750 is awarded to teachers attending the NRAEF Summer Institute, a five-day workshop that provides restaurant/food service educator certification. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and teach at a high school or post-secondary restaurant management or food service-related program. Additional application requirements include a typed personal statement and one professional recommendation.
- In addition to providing scholarships to culinary students seeking to start or continue their education, the Culinary Trust also funds charitable causes and programs that support hunger relief and cookbook preservation efforts. Scholarship applicants must attend one of the schools participating in the Culinary Trust Scholarship and Grant Program. Fees for each scholarship offered under the program ranged from $20 to $35 as of February 2011. Submission requirements include official transcripts, employment history, volunteer experience and two letters of recommendation from a professor, coworker, supervisor or school counselor. Scholarship amounts vary as multiple awards available under the Culinary Trust Scholarship and Grant Program.
- Although the American Academy of Chefs (AAC) provides educational awards to high school students, university students and professional chefs are also eligible to apply for scholarships. Applicants are required to hold at least a 2.5 grade point average and must be a current college student majoring in culinary or pastry arts. Apprentices registered with the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF) are also eligible to apply for an AAC scholarship. Scholarship questions include current and past work experience, industry accolades, volunteer activities and short, personal essays on leadership, teamwork and culinary abilities. Scholarship amounts vary based on the award.
- The International Cake Exploration Societe (ICES) offers scholarships to both students and professionals dedicated to the art of cake decorating. Applicants must enroll at a school with instructors that are approved by the ICES President and Scholarship Committee. A minimum grade point average is not required; however, the ICES application asks for three professional recommendations, previous experience or coursework in cake decorating or sugar art and total household income. Scholarship money may be used toward tuition, fees, housing and school supplies.
