When Andre DiMera unleashed his reign of terror on the residents of Salem, Hope and Bo rescued Shawn and Belle after they were locked in the Brady Pub freezer. After Andre tortured Roman and buried him alive, Steve took Stefano hostage at the TV station and demanded for Andre to give Roman back in exchange for Stefano. Andre arrived with Roman and ended up taking Hope hostage on the rooftop. She nearly fell over the edge, but Bo was able to shoot Andre and save Hope.

Andre's reign of terror came to an offical end when he died in the hospital after pulling his own plug.

October 2007

Hope was one of the many residents of Salem who was devastated over John Black's death, who had been killed by a hit-and-run driver. Soon afterwards, she was shocked to discover that Belle, her soon-to-be daughter-in-law, had slept with her ex-husband Philip. She was sure to lay into Belle for her indescretion and made the agonizing decision to keep this secret from her son Shawn, for fear of what it might do to him. However, Belle didn't keep her promise to Hope to cut off all ties with Philip. Hope listened to Belle's voice messages and discovered that Belle went to see Philip right before her wedding to Shawn. After Belle confessed everything to Shawn, Hope told her son that she knew all along, but Shawn surprisingly forgave her anyway.

2008

Hope and Marlena went to Rolf's lab in the DiMera mansion and discovered John Black alive and being held captive by Stefano. Unfortunately John was a very different person, thanks to Stefano extracting all of his memories.

Hope also re-joined the Salem Police Department after the new year. Soon afterwards, Hope, Bo, and other Salemites went to Ireland in an attempt to find a kidnapped Claire. Not only did they find the little girl, but they also discovered Colleen Brady alive. Colleen, however, soon died in John's arms shortly after revealing that he was her and Santo DiMera's son.

On the way back to Salem aboard John's private jet, the Salemites soon discovered that the plane had been sabotaged and was headed for a crash landing. It appeared that the passengers would die from lack of oxygen, but John managed to save them. Hope was blindsided when Bo revealed that he was very sick and could possibly die. She begged Grandpa Shawn to take the oxygen mask, but he refused and gave up his life for Bo. The passengers were rescued and Bo was taken to the hospital and learned that his pancreas is failing. Hope was devastated to learn that she might lose the man she's loved for 25 years. She has grown closer to stepdaughter Chelsea in their time of distress and has stood by Bo during his illness. A new doctor named Dr. Daniel Jonas arrived on the scene and was introduced by Victor, Bo's biological father. Will Hope lose the only man she's ever loved or will a miracle save him from the brink of death? Stay tuned!
